Caring for your Dark Side
Only the freshest and finest ingredients are used to make Dark Side Chocolates. We do not use any preservatives, which means that our chocolates have a shorter shelf life than commercial products. Our truffles and dipped chocolates should be eaten within 4 weeks, blocks and bars will last months.
Always store your chocolates in a cool dark place. Chocolates are best stored in pantry rather than fridge, but during summer you may need to refrigerate (chocolate softens or melts in 27+ degrees). If so, please keep in an air-tight container so that the chocolate does not absorb any scents from the fridge. Chocolates are best taken out of the fridge for 20 minutes before consuming.
If chocolate is exposed to changes in temperature, you may notice they lose their shine or even develop a white coating on the surface. Don't worry, the chocolates are still safe to eat, however they may just not taste as good. The lack of sheen will mean they don't have that nice "snap" if you bite into it or crack it. The white coating is simply a layer of cacao butter that's separated from the cacao solids and melted on the surface.
